ASUCD Commissions

Commissions

Commissions comprise the subordinate legislative bodies of the ASUCD Senate. The primary duty of a commission is to advise the ASUCD Senate on matters relevant to their individual specialty. Many commissions also plan events and activities that pertain to their field of expertise and benefit the student body in educational or entertaining ways.

Commissions hire new members at the end of the Fall and Spring Quarter each year, though vacancies often occur mid-year as well. Each commission has nine voting members and up to four alternate members.

The Academic Affairs Commission (AAC) is an advisory board to the ASUCD Senate on all academic matters at UC Davis and throughout the UC system. Nine student members and up to four alternates research, review, recommend, and develop projects to improve academic life for the student body. Working closely with the University Affairs Office, the commission ensures that students’ concerns are voiced to the Senate and other university officials.

Ethnic & Cultural Affairs Commission

The Ethnic and Cultural Affairs Commission (ECAC) is responsible for investigating and recommending policies and programs concerning under-represented communities at UC Davis. The commission accomplishes this task by establishing liaison and achieving rapport with all on-campus and off-campus bodies affecting said communities and their quality of life at the University. Comprised of nine members and up to four alternates, the commission welcomes visitors at its weekly meetings

Our goal is to represent historically marginalized groups who face barriers in terms of institutionalized, internalized, and systemic oppression. We are here to propose legislation and support events that honor different ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. We will voice your concerns to empower cross-cultural interaction in order to represent and bring awareness within our communities, student body, and the University of California, Davis.
